The Brennan Family

Owner and Operator of Whitcraft Farms

Tom and Robin Brennan's story begins like many who move closer to family and the towns they use to call home in order to raise their own children. Having moved out of the city, Tom and Robin bought a home with a backyard to learn and expand their garden interest. In late 2020, in the midst of Covid, Tom and Robin noticed their beloved garden and produce center, Whitcraft Farms, was for sale. The couple purchased Whitcraft Farms, from the Whitcraft family as a tribute to Robin's late mother, Mary, who grew up in a family of flower farmers. During the transition of ownership, a deep admiration was cultivated between the Whitcraft and Brennan families. Tom and Robin are proud to continue Whitcraft Farms as a family owned and operated business located a couple of miles down the road from where they are raising their two young daughters, Nora and Sylvie.

Before their husband and wife partner project of owning a garden center, Tom ran for the Haddonfield Memorial High School cross country and track team then returned later as assistant coach of boys cross country. Both Tom and Robin grew up in families that heavily influenced their love of nurturing gardens as a way to spend more time outdoors. Robin's great-grandfather, Grandpop Fromuth, operated a flower nursery from 1910-1978 in Holland, PA. At the beginning of his operation, he grew and sold spring flowers from his backyard greenhouse. One of Grandpop Fromuth's growing specialty was the pansy, which can be found available throughout many seasons at Whitcraft Farms.

Tom and Robin were drawn to Whitcraft Farms and want to share this special place with their two daughters and surrounding neighbors with the hope of fostering a deeper connection through plants, flowers, mud-pies, and even worms.

Our History

Whitcraft Farms was founded by Walter and Mary Green in the early 1900's as Green's Market. It was located on what became the Ellisburg Circle in 1939. The Green's had two daughters who also worked in the business.

Helen Green and her husband, Bob Whitcraft, became the second generation to operate the business. They sold fresh local produce, flowers, and Christmas trees. As the township of Cherry Hill grew and the Ellisburg Circle was removed to provide for the ever increasing traffic flow, Green's Market was forced to close its doors at that location.

Walter Whitcraft, the son of Helen and Bob, along with his wife Judy loved the garden center and produce business. Walt, Judy, and their daughter Brooke found a new home on Kresson Road in Voorhees, where they expanded the business and renamed it Whitcraft Farms. In addition to flowers and produce, they also offered pick-your-own apples and peaches, and fresh made apple cider. Whitcraft Farms included a small bakery which sold freshly baked pies and the best cider donuts in the area. A gift shop was also added to this location. In the late 1980's the farm on which they were located was sold.

Whitcraft Farms relocated to 202 Kresson Road in Cherry Hill, the former site of Gladys' Market. Thanks to the many wonderful customers, the business has flourished and includes a fifth generation, Killian, Thane, and Zarre the grandchildren of Walt and Judy.

In 2020, Whitcraft Farms added another generation to it's ownership when the Brennan Family assumed ownership.
